Incumbent Williamson County Commissioners Valerie Covey, Terry Cook outraise opponents as election nears

Current Williamson County Commissioners Terry Cook and Valerie Covey have outraised their respective opponents in the last month leading to the Nov. 3 election, according to campaign finance reports.

Local candidates submitted their most recent campaign finance reports Oct. 26; they detail contributions, expenses and loans between the end of September and the end of October.

Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey, the Republican candidate, outraised all other candidates, raking in about $21,128 in contributions, according to her report. She spent about $16,443, which went toward advertisements, event expenses and a $12,725 contribution to the Republican Party of Texas, documents show.

Covey’s opponent, Sharon Cummings, raised about $179 and spent about $2,000 solely on advertising, her report said.

Precinct 1 Commissioner Terry Cook, the Democratic candidate, raised about $4,990 in contributions, according to her report. She spent about $877, which went primarily toward advertisement expenses, it said.

Cook’s opponent, Nikki Gonzales, raised about $1,694 and spent about $1,369 on campaign services and food, her report said.
