JUST IN: Williamson County commissioner incumbents to keep seats for next four years

Incumbents Terry Cook and Valerie Covey will keep their seats as Williamson County Commissioners, according to unofficial results.

With all of the county’s precincts reporting, Precinct 1 Democratic candidate Cook took 57.78% of the votes. Her opponent Nikki Gonzales took 42.22% of the votes. A total of 51,640 ballots were cast where Cook took 29,840.

“Thank you to all the residents of Precinct 1,” Cook said. “I just love my job.”

Precinct 3 Republican candidate Valerie Covey beat out competitor Sharon Cummings 63.17% to 36.83%. Covey took 52,730 of 83,474 total votes.

“I am very humbled and honored by the results and am thankful for the privilege to continue to serve Williamson County,” Covey said.

Results are updated as of 11:45 p.m., and are unofficial until they are canvassed and certified by the county clerk. Under Texas Election law, the clerk accepts and counts mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day and received by Nov. 4, if they were sent from inside the U.S., or Nov. 9, if they were sent from outside the U.S.
