Icon, the construction technology company building the world’s largest community of 3D-printed homes in Georgetown’s Wolf Ranch neighborhood, does not expect any delays to the project after one its facilities in South Austin caught fire Nov. 25.
The cause of the fire and damage to the facility—located at The Yard at 444 E. St. Elmo Road, Ste. B, Austin—is under investigation, according to Icon.
Co-founder and CEO Jason Ballard wrote in a tweet Nov. 25 that he is grateful no one was hurt as the company’s fleet of printers were “out in the field” and workers were home for the holidays.
“It was devastating,” said Cara Caulkins, director of public relations and events. “Luckily no one was injured, and we don’t anticipate it will impact any business from Icon.”
