As the number of drivers in Frisco climbs, more than $400 million in road projects are in the works to address traffic congestion. Some regional roadways, such as the Dallas North Tollway through Frisco, are expected to more than double their traffic volume within 26 years, according to the North Central Texas Council of Governments. 1. Coit Road extension

Coit Road is being extended from Rockhill Parkway to US 380. The new roadway will have four lanes with a median. The project also includes installing a 16-inch water line.

2. Coit Road widening Coit Road will be widened from four to six lanes between SH 121 and Main Street. Construction is expected to begin this summer. Timeline: July 2019-September 2020 Cost: $6 million Funding source: city of Frisco
3. Dallas Parkway widening An additional lane is being constructed on the northbound and southbound sides of Dallas Parkway between SH 121 and Panther Creek Parkway. Construction on the portion between SH 121 and Lebanon Road is wrapping up soon. The rest of the project will not begin construction until next year. 6. Lebanon Road widening Lebanon Road is going to be widened from four to six lanes between Parkwood Boulevard and Ohio Drive. 7. Lebanon Road widening Construction is scheduled to be complete by June to widen Lebanon Road to six lanes from Starwood to Legacy drives. A third westbound lane is also being added between Legacy Drive and Village Boulevard. Work on an wastewater project in the same area will continue through September. 10. Main Street widening Construction is wrapping up to widen Main Street to six lanes between FM 423 and Dallas Parkway. The project includes the installation of underground power lines and a water line. Brazos Electric Power Cooperative is paying for a chunk of the project in relation to the underground power lines, which Brazos will operate. 11. Main Street reconstruction Main Street through downtown Frisco will be reconstructed with the completion of the new Downtown Master Plan. The plan recommends replacing the existing median with a center turn lane. On-street parallel parking is planned to remain unless Frisco City Council decides to remove it. 12. Panther Creek Parkway extension Panther Creek Parkway will be extended as a continuous road between Dallas Parkway and Preston Road. The new roadway will be six lanes and will accommodate future developments, such as the future University of North Texas campus at Preston Road and Panther Creek Parkway. The project is under design. 13. Preston Road intersections Turn lanes are being added to five intersections on Preston Road: Main Street, Stonebrook Parkway, Wade Boulevard, Lebanon Road and Warren Parkway. 16. Sam Rayburn Tollway widening A fourth lane is being added in each direction to the entire length of the Sam Rayburn Tollway. The North Texas Tollway Authority project will cause lane and intersection closures during construction.
