Frisco officials call special election to fill Place 1 seat on City Council

Frisco is calling a special election to fill Place 1 on City Council, according to a Nov. 7 news release. Place 1 City Council member John Keating resigned to run for mayor in Frisco.

Mayor Jeff Cheney’s term expires in 2026. Council voted unanimously to call the election during its regular meeting Nov. 4. Keating resigned Oct. 27, according to the news release.

What’s next?

Residents planning to run for the empty seat will be able to file their application for a place on the ballot between Nov. 10 and Dec. 1.

Dec. 31 is the last day to register to vote in the local election. Early voting will run from Jan. 14-27, and election day is Jan. 31.
