Registration is now open for the Cy-Fair ISD Police Department’s Junior Police Academy. The new summer program is designed to introduce nine- and 10-year old students to law enforcement.
District police officers will serve as mentors, providing classroom training and practical applications in an interactive environment, according to district officials. Activities will include tourniquet application education, scavenger hunts, obstacles courses and drug awareness.
The first session will take place at Cypress Ridge High School, 7900 N. Eldridge Parkway, Houston, from June 24-28. Cypress Springs High School will host the second session from July 8-12 at 7909 Fry Road, Cypress. Both sessions run from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. daily.
The $100 registration fee must be paid via check or cash no later than 2 p.m. on April 15 at the CFISD Police Department, 11200 Telge Road, Cypress. Transportation will not be provided, but breakfast and lunch will be available to program participants each day.
Applications are open through April 1, and classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, visit www.cfisd.net.
