Alt-themed salon Neon Seance Salon opened for business in early January, owner Mallory “Kitty” Tippin said. The salon specializes in creative hair coloring and alternative haircuts. Tippin has five years of stylist experience, and the salon employs five stylists, according to the company website.
The game spot has arcade and claw machine games where guests can win small prizes and trade them up for bigger prizes, co-owner Anthony Nguyen said.
The Denton location features a 140-square-foot putting green and four golf simulator bays, one of which is a private suite, owner James Price said. The company offers membership packages, and non-members can rent a bay for $50 per hour.
The single-bay unmanned simulator operates 24 hours a day and uses Trackman technology. Customers can book a time to golf and receive a code that unlocks the door at their designated time, owner Tommy Hunter said.
The business offers a unique space for photography, film and content rentals. Archive Haus is now fully open, though some offerings are intentionally launching in phases over the coming months, said owner Rachel Hicks.
Japanese restaurant Sushi Kai opened its doors in mid-January, according to a social media post from the company. Sushi Kai has several Japanese-inspired menu items, such as a full menu of sushi, hibachi options, appetizers, sushi lunch combos, soups and salads.
Window tint and vehicle detailing shop Tint World opened its first Denton location on N. I-35 in early December, a company representative said. The company specializes in window tint for cars, boats and houses, as well as detailing services for cars and boats, according to its website.
The trailer comes to individuals or businesses and sets up a recording location in someone’s home or a designated work location, owner Houston Rogers said.
Coming soon
The putt-putt venue will be the first in Denton and offers glow-in-the-dark mini-golf courses populated with “monsters” that move and talk, according to the business’s website.
What's next
The gas station is currently in the development stage, a QuikTrip representative told Community Impact. Construction is expected to begin June 26, 2026, with the store currently scheduled to open roughly eight months later.
Expansions
Tabletop and board game shop Nexus Game Lounge at Golden Triangle Mall opened an additional space, called the NX, in early January, Nexus Marketing Director Sarah Pippins said.
The space features a stage, sound system with a microphone and a 100-inch TV screen.
Wilkinson’s Fine Goods will expand its store in 2026 to accommodate the store’s brands and goods and to give customers a more immersive experience, owner Clint Wilkinson said. The store is known for its western wear, such as clothes and boots for men and women, and its accessories, including jewelry, hats, leather goods and belt buckles.
In the news
The Denton Arts & Jazz Festival will now be Sept. 11-13 and move to the North Texas Fairgrounds for the 2026 festivities, according to a social media post from the organization.
The Denton County Courthouse-on-the-Square Museum reopened Dec. 15 after being closed for roughly two years for renovations.
Relocations
The plant-based meal prep and food delivery service relocated from Dallas to Denton in late January, a company representative said.
