Richard Newton has won the race for Colleyville Mayor with 62.34 percent, or 3,752 votes compared to his opponent, incumbent David Kelly, who only received 37.66 percent, or 2,267 votes.
"The support from the community has been unprecedented," Newton said. "The community support has been phenomenal. One of the things I'm most looking forward to is getting the community involved and getting more input from them. Of course, we will address the things we talked about on my campaign such as the master plan and term limits."
Tammy Nakamura received the most votes for Place 1 on the city council. Nakamura pulled in 62.06 percent, or 3,734 votes while incumbent Carol Wollin received 37.94 percent, or 2,283 votes.
Bobby Lindamood beat opponent incumbent Chuck Mogged in the race for Place 2 on the city council. Lindamood received 62.26 percent, or 3,746 votes and Mogged captured 37.74 percent, or 2,271 votes.
"It feels wonderful to have won," Lindamood said. "It's been a long, hard road. I'm looking forward to getting the city back on track and putting back honesty and integrity in City Hall. The people have spoken tonight and it was overwhelming positive for us. They want a change."

Three Colleyville City Council positions are up for grabs in the May 7 city election: Mayor, Place 1 and Place 2.
After early voting results were released, Richard Newton is leading against David Kelly to become the next mayor of Colleyville. Newton received 61.25 percent of the early votes, or 2,712 votes, and Kelly received 38.75 percent of the early votes, or 1,716 votes.
In the lead for Place 1 is Tammy Nakamura, who gathered 60.88 percent of votes, or 2,694 votes, compared to opponent Carol Wollin who received 39.12 percent, or 1,731 votes.
With 61.46 percent of votes, or 2,719 votes, Bobby Lindamood is ahead in the race for Place 2 with opponent Chuck Mogged receiving 38.54 percent of votes, or 1,705 votes.
Mayor candidates
David Kelly is the current mayor of the city of Colleyville. He is a certified financial planner and principal with Cornerstone Professional Advisor Services, LLC. He has been a Colleyville resident since 1997.
Richard Newton is a former mayor of Colleyville. Netwon has also held Place 2 two times and Place 4 two times on the council. He is a principal of LGRW, LLC and a registered professional engineer.
Place 1 candidates
Incumbent Carol Wollin has lived in Colleyville since 1991 and is a retired assistant professor of nursing. She has held multiple positions in the city including the Colleyville Woman's Club president, Colleyville Garden Club president and Colleyville Economic Development Corporation president.
Opponent Tammy Nakamura is heavily involved in community affairs. She has been involved with Colleyville Woman's Club, The Arts League and Arts Council Northeast, GRACE and the Colleyville Chamber of Commerce.
Place 2 candidates
Chuck Mogged is a retired mechanical engineer and has lived in Colleyville since 2002. He has sat on the audit committee, comprehensive plan advisory committee and is the current president of the Colleyville Crime Control and Prevention District.
Bobby Lindamood owns his business, JR's Demolition. He is known for spearheading Colleyville's Protect Glade Road citizen group and for vocalizing citizens' concerns about SH 26's redevelopment.
