The renovated Richardson Public Library will have new furniture once it reopens.

The details

Richardson City Council approved a purchase order totaling $3.5 million to buy and install the new furniture during the Sept. 8 meeting.

The order is being split between six companies and is funded through the 2021 bond and certificates of obligation.

New furniture includes bookshelves, desks and a variety of seating. Installation is expected to begin in early 2026 and be completed in the spring.


The library is expected to open in early 2026.
