Progress continues on Richardson’s refresh of play structures within several city parks.

According to a city news release, City Council members held a ribbon cutting ceremony in mid-September to commemorate the completion of renovations to play equipment at Woodland and Woods parks.

Improvements at the two city parks included new play structures and accessibility improvements, per the news release. Funding for the two projects was included as part of the 2021 bond.

The updates to Woods Park, which is located at 3510 Hillrose Drive, included two new play structures, one of which allows children to vault between two platforms. Woodland Park—located at 1399 Woodland Way—enhancements included the addition of four bays of swings, an in-ground net climber and two new play structures with slides, according to the news release.


Woodland Park opened with a renovated playground in July while Woods Park was also completed this summer.

What else?

Renovations on play structures at two other parks—Foxboro Park and Point North Park—are planned, per the news release. The bond included $7.5 million in funding for nine park playground renovations with seven already completed.
