A special permit for nail technician school Boss Nail Academy received approval from Richardson City Council.

The request was approved during the Oct. 23 meeting, meaning that the applicant must obtain a certificate of occupancy for the proposed location off of West Campbell Road within six months or the permit will expire.

What you need to know

Boss Nail Academy will operate out of a leased space at 521 W. Campbell Road, hosting classes for students in the morning and evening. According to city documents, the school will also host up to five clients on Fridays and no more than 15 students per class session.

The school is accredited by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and instructs students on industry standard sanitary practices, manicures, artificial nail enhancements and more. Students must complete a 600-hour program to graduate from Boss Nail Academy.


The special permit request had been recommended for approval during the Oct. 5 meeting of the City Plan Commission. The school is expected to open in March 2024.
