A second community summit is planned as Richardson officials continue to progress through the update of the city’s comprehensive plan.

Online feedback began Oct. 1 and will remain open until Nov. 5, according to a news release. The first in-person community workshop will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Temporary City Hall—located at 2360 Campbell Road, Ste. 525—with the second held from 10 a.m.-noon at the Heights Recreation Center—located at 711 W. Arapaho Road.

The overview

Richardson began work updating its comprehensive plan earlier this year, as previously reported by Community Impact. The process is expected to continue with a drafting phase that will take place in 2024.

The comprehensive plan is a document outlining the vision for Richardson over the next 20 years. Areas of focus in the update include future land use, mobility and transportation, neighborhoods and housing, economic development, community facilities, and the natural environment within the city.

Per the news release, the second community summit will build upon feedback from individuals received during the first outreach effort earlier this year. This session will also focus on feedback for the plan’s draft vision statement and guiding principles.

What’s next?

As the draft plan is developed, community feedback will be solicited during a third community summit planned for summer 2024.
