Longtime incumbent Angie Chen Button has won the Republican primary for State House District 112, garnering 10,330 votes, or 72.2%.
In the race, Chen Button faced challenger Chad Carnahan, who received 3,977 votes, or 27.8%
Chen Button will face unopposed Democratic candidate Averie Bishop, a Southern Methodist University law school graduate and winner of Miss Texas 2022, in the Nov. 5 general election.
In the Republican primary in Dallas County, 101,181 were cast, representing a little more than 7% of voters.

In the Republican Primary for State House District 112, longtime incumbent Angie Chen Button has taken an early lead with unofficial early voting tallies showing her garnering 5,117 votes, or 73.59%.
In the race, Chen Button faces Republican challenger Chad Carnahan, president of transportation equipment supplier AfterMark, who has received 1,836 votes, or 26.41%.

House District 112 encompasses parts of Dallas County in Dallas, Garland, Richardson, Rowlett, Sachse and Sunnyvale.
Chen Button has represented the district, which underwent redistricting in 2021, since 2009. She currently serves as chair of the International Relations and Economic Development Committee as well as a member of the Ways and Means Committee.

In early voting, there were 6,583 ballots cast countywide, which represents less than 1% of Dallas County's 1,423,689 voters.
Totals from ballots cast March 5 have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.
