The board of regents named Prabhas V. Moghe of Rutgers University as the sole finalist for the position during a May 7 meeting.
The details
Moghe has a background in chemical and bioengineering and currently serves as the executive vice president for academic affairs at Rutgers University. Since assuming the position, he has helped increase research funding by 40% increase, per the release.
“Dr. Moghe’s record of strengthening educational pathways and propelling research agendas forward reflect many of UT Dallas’s strengths and continued aspirations. He has a deep appreciation for UTD’s mission and extraordinary ascendancy among top universities,” Chancellor JB Milliken, who served as the presidential search advisory committee chair, said in the release.
What next?
The board must wait 21 days before appointing Moghe, per state law. If appointed, he would succeed Richard Benson, who announced plans to transition to a faculty position in August.
Benson served as president for nine years.
