A new dental practice could be coming to Richardson, while public hearings for a proposed research and development facility and a townhome development will be continued in mid-November.

The Richardson City Plan Commission voted to recommend approval of a variance for a dental practice near the Northrich neighborhood on West Campbell Road at the Oct. 3 meeting. Two other requests, one for a neighborhood with 38 townhomes and another for Lennox’s proposed research and development facility, had public hearings extended at the meeting.

The overview

The variance for a new dental practice would allow for the rear setbacks of the building to be 41 feet, instead of the required 46 feet from residential development. According to city documents, the new practice would be related to Dentistry by Brand, which currently operates in Garland.

With a recommendation for approval, the case is required to be heard and approved by Richardson City Council at a future meeting.

Diving deeper

Per city documents, Lennox proposed a 45,000-square-foot research and development building for climate control equipment near the company’s existing office space. Up to 65 employees could be present within the facility, according to the applicant’s presentation.

The applicant for a 38-unit townhome neighborhood located at 601 E. Main St., near the intersection with Grove Road, requested a continuation of the public hearing to obtain more feedback from nearby residents, according to city documents.

Looking ahead

The variance will head to council for consideration. Commissioners are expected to hold public hearings for the townhome development and Lennox facility at the Nov. 19 meeting, based on city documents.
