Tulsa-based BirdieBay Golf could soon be coming to Richardson.

The Richardson City Plan Commission recommended approval of a special permit for the indoor golf simulation concept during its Sept. 17 meeting.

Two-minute impact

According to the company’s website, BirdieBay uses a ball-tracking and simulation technology called Golfzon for its indoor golf business. Based on city documents, the Richardson location will have five playing bays that can accommodate up to four players each, a golf pro shop and a bar.

Additionally, the business partners with local veteran nonprofit organizations to provide free golf sessions every Monday evening, per a submitted applicant statement.

The business is expected to occupy nearly 4,000 square feet of leased space in the northern portion of development at 1002 N. Central Expressway.

Looking ahead

City Council is tentatively scheduled to consider the special permit request at the Oct. 14 meeting.

Per city documents, the location plans to open between late 2024 and early 2025 if approved.
