Andalousia Hookah Café recently opened in Richardson, Founder Wassim Merched said. A soft-opening is underway and a grand opening will be held at a later date, a company representative said.

The upscale café—which was designed as a social space for study sessions, date nights and gatherings—offers over 30 flavors of premium hookah and Mediterranean-inspired drinks in a cozy, quiet setting, said Merched in an email.

The cafe also offers mezze, which are Mediterranean appetizers, catered from Andalous Mediterranean Concepts’ flagship restaurant, Andalous Mediterranean Grill.

What else?

Andalousia Hookah Café is one of three new concepts the company plans to launch.

Andalous Mediterranean Mezza is slated to open in December in McKinney. The menu will feature plated dishes including beef tenderloin skewers, lamb chops and kababs. Hummus and salads will also be served.

The 6,500 sq. ft. restaurant will feature two tree-shaded patios and a small gated play area for children.

Andalous Fresh Mediterranean is scheduled to open during the first quarter of 2026 in Frisco.

“A modern, fast-casual Mediterranean concept inspired by our original buffet-style restaurant but streamlined for speed and efficiency,” Merched said. “Guests will enjoy a vibrant cold line of fresh dips, salads, and toppings, with all proteins plated fresh from the kitchen.”

Merched added that this location will serve as a prototype model for future growth opportunities.

Andalous Mediterranean Concepts also operates Andalous Mediterranean Grill locations in Los Colinas and Arlington as well as Andalous Mediterranean Buffet in Richardson, the company website states.

Backstory

Andalous Mediterranean Grill opened in Las Colinas in 2012.

Twin brothers—and chefs—Sam and Wassim Merched operate Andalous Mediterranean Grill.

“After years of training and cooking from their mother's secret recipes, the brothers have learned the traditions of countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea,” the company website states.
