Brent Brown will be Prosper’s new chief of police, according to a June 12 news release.
Brown is a Prosper resident who joins the department with over 24 years of law enforcement experience across North Texas.
“The chief establishes the vision and direction for the department, and we are excited to have a leader who has lived in our community and knows it inside and out,” Town Manager Mario Canizares said in the release.
A closer look
Brown most recently served as assistant chief of police for the Celina Police Department. He has also worked for police departments in The Colony and Paris, per the release.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice from Texas A&M University-Commerce and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in public administration at Tarleton State University.
Sorting out details
Brown will take over from Interim Police Chief Ken Meyers, who has been the acting chief of police since Doug Kowalski retired in February.
Meyers will continue managing day-to-day operations at the department until Brown begins his new role in July pending a routine pre-employment screening process, according to the release.
