The Prosper Community Library is encouraging residents to weigh in on its upcoming master plan through a new community survey.

The gist

The survey is for the library’s master plan, a blueprint for expanding the library in response to the town’s growth. Plans are expected to wrap up in December and include the results of population studies, spacing needs, reader statistics, staffing projections and more gathered through research, interviews, tours, workshops and this survey.

The survey can be found here until it closes Sept. 3, according to an Aug. 9 town news release.

Questions include:
  • Listing the number of times visited to the library in the last year
  • Ranking the importance of library spaces such as exhibits and quiet work areas
  • What should be included in an outdoor area, such as play areas or walking trails
  • Ideal seating capacity in meeting spaces
  • How the new library should feel—options include energetic, calming, historical and colorful
There is also a short-answer response section for respondents to describe what else they would want in a reimagined library space.

Only Prosper residents who receive a utility bill from the town will be able to access the survey. Respondents who live in the town but do not receive a town bill or who are nonresidents will not be allowed past the first question.

Zooming out

Located inside Prosper’s Town Hall at 250 W First St., the two-floor community library offers more than 35,000 physical items and more than 800,000 digital titles, according to a news release. The feedback from survey respondents will help town officials adapt to the evolving needs of the town as it grows.
