The district's 18th elementary school named Betty Jackson Elementary School welcomed its first group of students this school year. Daniel L. Jones Middle School, PISD's fifth middle school, also opened for the 2024-25 school year.

Here are some important dates for PISD students:
- Sept. 2-3: student holiday
- Oct. 14-15, school holiday
- Nov. 25-29, Thanksgiving break
- Dec. 23-Jan. 6, winter break
The district expects to open four new campuses in the 2025-26 school year. This includes PISD's 19th and 20th elementary schools, its sixth middle school and a fourth high school.
