Urban Family Concepts is owned by husband-and-wife team Bonnie and Nathan Shea with Chef Salvatore Gisellu and his wife, Jeanne-Marie.
“I believe downtown Plano is the heart of Plano,” Bonnie Shea said in a statement. “What used to be saloons are now chef-driven restaurants, hopping bars, retail, apartments and more.”
The company also owns Urban Crust, a wood-fired pizza and Italian food concept located in downtown Plano that opened in 2009. Urban Rio Cantina offers a Mexican-style menu featuring house-smoked brisket tacos, chimichurri grilled chicken club quesadillas, and roasted corn and crab enchiladas. Urban Seafood Company opened last June and offers a seafood-based, New England-inspired menu, a company release stated.
“I grew up in Sardinia, an island off the coast of Italy, so seafood is like second nature to me,” Salvatore Gisellu said in a statement. “This being our next venture was an easy decision, especially after seeing the potential to fill a void of this cuisine locally.”
The menu features coastal favorites, such as lobster rolls, wood-grilled fish and housemade pasta dishes. The menu also includes an oyster bar sourced from the East Coast and beyond, and shucked bar-side, the release stated.
“It’s been a strange but also exciting time to open a new concept this past year,” Nathan Shea said in a statement. “We love to serve this community and beyond. We are incredibly grateful to our loyal guests.”
