Individuals will soon have another opportunity to provide feedback on short-term rentals within Plano.

An open house will be held from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 7 at event1013 in downtown Plano. A virtual open house with the same material will be available online Feb. 5-12.

What you need to know

Director of Planning Christina Day said the city’s short-term rental task force has compiled a list of 30 items that the public will be able to provide feedback on during Plano City Council’s preliminary open meeting Jan. 22. The task force is expected to finalize its recommendations to the planning and zoning commission during its Feb. 28 meeting.

Members of the planning and zoning commission received an update in October about initial findings from the task force. A one-year ban on short-term rentals was previously adopted in May.

What’s next?

Day said potential regulations will first be presented to the city’s planning and zoning commission before they could be considered by council. According to city documents, presentations to both the planning and zoning commission and council are tentatively slated for March.

The goal is to adopt any potential regulation ahead of the ban’s expiration May 15, Day said.
