High school students seeking college credit through Advanced Placement courses are navigating a new process for taking the exams.

Multiple-choice questions will not be part of the AP exams this year as the organization conducting them moves the testing online to adjust for coronavirus-related closures.

Instead, the College Board will ask students to answer free-response questions on all exams.

Students will be allowed to use their textbooks and notes during each test.

The exams will be limited to 45 minutes and will be administered on a modified schedule from May 11-22.

Plano ISD was among the area school districts to get the word out, sending a message to parents and students April 23 detailing the changes.

The tests will only cover material that was covered in students' AP classes before March 1, the district said.

The exams are set up so students can take them on a variety of electronic devices.

A full exam schedule is available on the College Board website. More details on the new exam format can be found here.
