Children's Health Plano on Thursday celebrated the opening of its new specialty center, a state-of-the-art facility for rehabilitation and prevention of sports injuries, surgery, training and nutrition.
The four-story, 200,000-square-foot facility houses the hospital's Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine and Sports Performance, as well as a service center, imaging center and physicians clinics.
“As a former Division I collegiate athlete and now as an orthopedic surgeon, I cannot stress enough the importance of injury prevention, training and rehabilitation that is needed for youth athletes, especially in this North Texas region where youth sports are so popular,” said Dr. John Polousky, surgical director and chief of pediatric orthopedics at Children’s Health Plano, in a statement Thursday.
The facility opened to its first occupants beginning in December. Since then, crews had been working to complete the new building, located at 7211 Preston Road, Plano.
