All north- and south-bound lanes on Dallas North Tollway near Legacy Drive will close this weekend as crews continue work to add a U-turn lane near the newly open Legacy West development.

Crews will close the tollway near Legacy Drive at 11 p.m. Friday, according to a release from the North Texas Tollway Authority. Lanes will remain closed through 5 a.m. June 19, the release says, reopening in time for most morning commutes.

The northbound closures will take place at the Spring Creek Parkway exit to the Headquarters Drive entrance ramp. The southbound closures will stretch from Gaylord Parkway to the Spring Greek Parkway entrance ramp.

Before the full closure, two lanes will be closed along the same stretches of the tollway in both directions from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday.

The closures will facilitate a project to add a new U-turn lane at Legacy Drive leading from the tollways southbound frontage roads to its northbound frontage roads. The city of Plano has plans to convert the original U-turn lane to a pedestrian bridge between two major Plano developments—The Shops at Legacy and the newly opened Legacy West retail, restaurant and office project.

Legacy Drive will remain open during the weekend's construction.

These closures are part of the NTTA’s broader efforts to expand the tollway, which includes the addition of a fourth lane in each direction to the DNT.
