1. Plano Balloon Festival to kick off tonight


The 38th annual Plano Balloon Festival will be held Friday through Sunday at Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve, 2801 E. Spring Creek Parkway. Festival organizers expect to have about 40 balloons on site, with rides costing $25 per person. $5 festival admittance, $4 for seniors, free for children under 36 inches.

2. Partial Dallas North Tollway lane closures to begin at 10 p.m. 


The North Texas Tollway Authority announced partial Dallas North Tollway lane closures south of the intersection of President George Bush Turnpike and DNT will last from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Crews will close the southbound connector ramps leading from PGBT to the DNT from 8 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday. Read more about the closures here.

3. Dark Hour haunted house to open for Halloween season


For its fifth Halloween season, the Dark Hour haunted house will open Friday night and last through the weekends of October. The haunted house is located at 701 Taylor Drive, Plano.  General admission tickets are available online for $28. Some discounts may be available on the event's website.

4. Upscale Tex-Mex restaurant slated to open Monday


Meso Maya plans to open its fourth Dallas-area location in Plano on Monday at 4800 W. Park Blvd., formerly Chili’s Bar & Grill. The upscale Tex-Mex restaurant will serve enchiladas, sopas, tacos and other meat dishes. Meso Maya also has a restaurant at 11909 Preston Road, Ste. 1426, Dallas.
