The details
The demonstration is set to take place on June 22 and is meant to “raise awareness about burn injuries and other hazards related to the improper use of fireworks,” according to a news release from Medical City Plano.
The live demonstration will use pyrotechnics and a manikin to show the consequences of mishandling fireworks.
Experts from Medical City Plano’s Burn & Reconstructive Center of Texas and Plano Fire-Rescue will be on hand to answer questions and share insights as well.
Medical City Plano is the only burn center in Collin County, and one of two verified burn centers in North Texas. The burn center treats “more than 4,000 patients annually,” said James Cross, director of Medical City Plano’s Burn & Reconstructive Center, in the release.
