The city of Plano has issued an update outlining the public works department’s plan to resume trash collection services.
Thursday, Feb. 2
Trash
- Supervisors will drive down streets and alleys to determine collection for the day. With the forecast of freezing rain, supervisors will be paying special attention to low hanging or fallen limbs in alleys to ensure trucks will have adequate access for collections.
- Collection of trash, recycling and yard debris typically picked up on Tuesdays will be the primary focus, with trash collected first.
- The goal is to resume services by noon.
- The public works department has discussed a plan to have the materials recovery facility open and operating in the afternoon before it arrives with the first loads of recycling. They will be open Feb. 3-4 to accommodate the modified schedule.
- The public works department will request the materials recovery facility stay open late for recycling drop-off.

- The public works department hopes for a normal start time. Supervisors will check streets and alleys by 5:30 a.m.
- If any trash pickups from Tuesday were not complete, they will be collected first.
- The goal is to have Wednesday collections complete by the end of day.
