As Texas heads into its third day of inclement weather, the city of Plano has released an update regarding closures, road conditions and accidents.

Closures
  • Trash and recycling will not be collected Feb. 1. Depending on road conditions, the goal is to resume collection on Feb. 2.
  • Recreation centers are closed.
  • All library locations, including book drops, are closed.
  • The animal shelter is closed.
  • Customer and Utility Services is closed to walk-in and phone customers. Those needing to pay a water bill may visit https://ecop.plano.gov/CUS/.
  • The Municipal Court and clerk’s office are closed. Contact the clerk’s office before making an appearance on Feb. 1 for closure updates. All jury trials scheduled for Feb. 1 have been canceled and will be rescheduled. Jurors will be reset, and a summons will be mailed to the address on file.
  • The Adrian Magallanes Day Labor Center is closed.
  • Teen Court is rescheduled for Feb. 20.
  • Texas Pure Products is closed.
Roads
  • Per the release, Plano streets are “icy and slick,” and the conditions are worse than Jan. 31. Road surfaces have turned into a solid sheet of ice.
  • The city suggests drivers need to remain extra cautious on bridges and overpasses. They are the first to freeze since no ground is underneath to insulate them.
  • Plano's public works department has 12 sanding trucks on the roads. The trucks run on a 24-hour basis and focus on bridges and major roads, then critical facilities, such as fire stations and police stations.
Traffic accidents
  • Four crashes were reported on the night of Jan. 31.
