The gist
A new eight-story patient tower is set to start construction at the hospital next summer, according to a news release from Texas Health Resources. The tower is expected to open in 2028.
The new 696-space parking garage is the second on the hospital’s campus, and also features a sky bridge to the adjacent medical office building.
“These expansions enable Texas Health Plano to grow with our community and to meet its evolving needs,” Texas Health Plano President Fraser Hay said in the release. “We have been serving the community for 33 years, and we are honored to be expanding to best meet the needs of our consumers through every stage of their lives for many decades to come.”
The details
The new patient tower will add 400 licensed critical care beds, increasing capacity for patients who need short-term intensive treatment, and critical care patients, according to the release.
The release states that the new tower will help serve Collin County’s growing population.
“Texas Health cares for more patients in North Texas than any other system,” Kirk King, Texas Health Hospital Channel chief operating officer said. “We are proud to serve a dynamic, growing community. This investment at Texas Health Plano will help us continue to connect patients and their families with quality care.”
Texas Health Plano also recently completed an expansion to its neonatal expansive care unit, and construction is underway on a new operating room for advanced neuroscience, heart and vascular medical procedures.
