The center celebrated the upcoming milestone on Aug. 20 by inviting blood donors to enjoy a taco bar, drinks and more.
“The American Red Cross is facing an emergency blood shortage, and more individuals are needed to donate now to help patients across the country receive lifesaving medical treatments,” a company news release states. “Overall, the Red Cross national blood supply has fallen by more than 25% since July 1.”
The release also states The Red Cross collects 40% of the nation’s blood supply, and every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.
“Fixed-site blood and platelet donation centers like the Plano location help ensure new moms, premature babies, cancer patients and accident victims have access to safe, lifesaving blood,” the release states.
