At its June 23 meeting, Plano City Council unanimously approved a revised Parks and Recreation fee schedule to increase service fee prices.
Susie Hergenrader, assistant director for recreation, said at the meeting the increase in costs are primarily to help relieve costs associated with inflation.
The following services will see an increase in fees:
- After-hour pool rental
- Pool party packages
- Facility room rental
- Nature & retreat center rental
- High Point tennis courts membership and rental
- Courtyard Theater and Cox Playhouse rental
- Recreation memberships
- Recreation daily
- Recreation programming
According to city documents, some fees have not been updated since 2008 or 2012, while others were last changed in 2019.
Exact revenue is undetermined, but the new raised prices are expected to generate approximately $699,537 to the city’s general fund and $314,445 to the recreation revolving fund, according to city documents.
While the department has not done a formal study to see the impact of the fee increase, Hergenrader said at the meeting the department is anticipating a 5% drop in memberships, which city staff anticipates will be offset by the fee increase.
Membership prices are available online, and residents can call for updated rental prices.
