L&T Technology Services, a global engineering and technology firm, opened its new engineering design center in Plano on June 27.

The center is expected to start with 100 engineering positions and grow to over 350 jobs, according to the news release.

The Plano facility is approved to design and develop defense projects and cybersecurity tools, including a security center to support smart city technology development.

The center will also work to apply artificial intelligence in manufacturing, such as through AI-assisted tools to improve endoscopic procedures and advance electrical vehicle systems, according to the news release.

What they’re saying

Alind Saxena, president and executive director of mobility and tech at L&T Technology Services, said the launch shows the company’s commitment to bringing innovation closer to the regions they serve.

“Plano is now a critical pillar in our global delivery model, with proximity to our clients, while working closely with local partners and talent to co-create industry-defining solutions right here in Texas,” Saxena said in the news release.

Mayor John Muns said the facility will help shape the future of technology development and smart manufacturing.

“This center represents innovation at its finest and marks an important step forward for our region,” Muns said in the news release.
