All Tarrant County precincts and 106 out of 129 precincts in Denton County report that Republican incumbent Michael C. Burgess continues to lead in the U.S. Rep. District 26 race with 67 percent of the votes.
"It has been a great honor to represent the people of the 26
th Congressional District of Texas and I am grateful that they have provided me the privilege of serving them for another term," Burgess said in a statement. "... As we look towards next year, there is much at stake—our nation’s security, the strength of our economy, health care reform, our crippling national debt and more. I am prepared to return to work for the people of TX-26.”
Democratic candidate Eric Mauck garnered 29 percent of the votes and Libertarian Mark Boler took 4 percent.
All results are unofficial until canvassed.

Republican Incumbent Michael C. Burgess has garnered 67 percent of the early votes for the U.S. Rep. District 26 race.
Democratic candidate Eric Mauck has received 29 percent of the votes and Libertarian candidate Mark Boler 4 percent.
Burgess was first elected in 2002, and before going into office, he spent three decades practicing medicine. Mauck is a store manager, and Boler is a computer architect and scientist.
