Transportation Updates






 

1. Rockhill Parkway construction


Construction is nearly complete to construct a new portion of Rockhill Parkway that extends from CR 26 to Preston Road. The new roadway, which is now open to traffic, will be a six-lane divided roadway.


Another section of the road is also being designed. That portion will be widened to six lanes stretching from Preston to Coit roads.


Timeline: 2014-June 2016 (CR 26 to Preston Road), July 2017-TBD (Preston to Coit roads)
Cost: $8.9 million (CR 26 to Dallas Parkway), $23.5 million (Dallas Parkway to Preston Road), TBD (Preston to Coit roads)

2. Dallas Parkway widening


Construction is underway to add another lane in each direction on Dallas Parkway from SH 121 to Lebanon Road. The project includes intersection improvements at Warren Parkway and Lebanon Road. Design work has also begun to add another lane from Lebanon Road to Eldorado Parkway.


Timeline: February-December (SH 121 to Lebanon Road), October 2017-TBD (Lebanon Road to Eldorado Parkway)
Cost: $11.5 million (SH 121 to Lebanon Road), $5.1 million (Lebanon Road to Eldorado Parkway)

3. Town and Country Boulevard repaving


Design work has begun to repave Town and Country Boulevard. The road will be repaved between Legacy Drive and Spring Creek Parkway.


Timeline: July 2017-September 2018

4. Teel Parkway


Teel Parkway Teel Parkway is being extended to Rockhill Parkway.[/caption]

Construction is about 80 percent complete to extend Teel Parkway from Stafford Middle School to Rockhill Parkway. The new extension will be a two-lane roadway with a bridge.


Timeline: April 2015-June
Cost: $6.4 million

5. FM 423 widening


Construction is now halfway done to widen FM 423 to six lanes. The project extends from Little Elm to Frisco. The Frisco portion of the project stretches from Eldorado Parkway to US 380.


Timeline: October 2014-July 2018 (Frisco portion), October 2014-October 2017 (southern FM 423)
Cost: $28.4 million (Frisco portion), $57.9 million (southern FM 423)

Transportation UpdatesMain Street


Plans to widen Main Street from FM 423 to the Dallas North Tollway are currently in the design process. The design is expected to be complete by March 2017, and construction is expected to begin by mid-2017 to widen the four-lane roadway to six lanes.


This portion of the roadway is part of a proposed power lines route that is currently pending approval
from the Public Utility Commission of Texas. The PUCT is considering whether to build the power lines overhead or to bury them.


The next PUCT meeting to discuss the power lines is May 19.
