City dog park to be expanded in second phase

City Council at its Aug. 18 meeting approved a design contract for the second phase of Ruff Range Dog Park.

The second phase will expand the existing dog park at B.F. Phillips Community Park. The original plan for the dog park included two large-dog areas and one small-dog area, but only one large-dog area was installed during construction because of lack of funding.

The park expansion will include water stations, a covered pavilion, benches and other amenities.
