After opening less than a year ago, Matt's Rancho Martinez restaurant in Colleyville is officially closed after the chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as sagging sales at the Colleyville and Cedar Hill locations weighed on the company's finances.

The Colleyville location expanded its location in November, which Michael Frank, director of operations (in an interview with Dallas Morning News) said was part of the company's plan to boost sales. He added the expansion was supposed to help the location focus more on customer service, but ended up taking too long to complete.

The Colleyville location, which opened in May, "started out going gangbusters, then just trickled" off, Frank said in the interview. "We saved the stores that were profitable and moved our best employees to the best stores. It's a big ball of mess, and now we're trying to get it cleaned up."

The three remaining stores are in Lakewood, Roanoke and Garland.
