A ground breaking ceremony was held Nov. 12 for Grapevine Craft Brewery at its future location at 906 Jean St. in historic downtown Grapevine.

Founder and owner Gary Humble said at the ceremony that after almost two years of planning and facing many obstacles construction is moving full steam ahead.

Humble said the 11,000 square-foot brewery will include 1,500 square feet of retail space for a two-story taproom and an additional 2,800 square feet of outdoor space for a beer garden, with 48 seats outside and 24 seats inside.

Humble said he was able to add to the square footage when the property to the north, adjacent to the land that was already purchased for the brewery became available. The new land added 6,000 square feet and frontage on Dallas Road.

The project is expected to be complete in spring 2015.

The brewery currently distributes to more than 1,200 locations in North Texas and the Austin area. All production activities at the company's Farmers Branch brewery will cease and Grapevine Craft Brewery will host all of its operations in Grapevine upon completion of construction.

"We plan on continuing a legacy of making great beer in Grapevine," Humble said. "I wouldn't have started the brewery with any other intention than for it to be in Grapevine."
