As a new fiscal year approaches, the cities of Grapevine, Colleyville, Southlake and Westlake have all set their public hearings for proposed tax rates and 2014-2015 fiscal year budgets.

A special Colleyville City Council meeting will be called on Aug. 26 for the first public hearing on the tax rate for the upcoming fiscal year. The second hearing on the tax rate as well as the public hearing of the FY 2014-2015 budget is set for the council's meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 2. If approved, the proposed tax rate of .03559 and the FY2015 budget will be adopted Sept. 16.

At Grapevine City Council's regularly scheduled meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 2, the council will hold the first public hearing on the proposed operating budget and the Grapevine Crime Control and Prevention District Board will conduct a public hearing at 7:25 p.m. on the FY 2014-15 CCPD Budget.

On Sept. 10, the Crime Control and Prevention District Board, the Grapevine 4B Board, and the city council will convene a special meeting to vote on the adoption of their respective budget. The city council will also vote on the adoption of the tax rate.

The Southlake City Council is set to review the city's strategic investments and capital improvement program at 5:30 today, followed by the first reading of the budget on Sept 2 and a second reading on Sept. 16.

Westlake City Council is expected to hold their first and only public hearing at the council's regularly scheduled meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 22. At the meeting they are also expected to adopt their proposed tax rate and budget. The proposed tax rate is lowered to the effective tax rate, which means the rate would decrease from .15684 to .15634, or by .0005.
