Snowflakes and Crepes had a sweet first year.

The Southlake restaurant, which features a Taiwanese ice confection called a snowflake, offered entrees such as shrimp teriyaki when it opened in spring 2013. But by the New Year, the customers had spoken.

"People have told us they like the sweet stuff, so we are concentrating on it more," said Stephanie Chen.

She said the most popular items are sweet crepes, snowflakes and bubble drinks. Snowflakes are made of ice shaved into a lacy pile, usually accompanied by fruit and garnishes familiar on a banana split.

The restaurant still offers savory crepes, including a spicy Buffalo crepe that has turned into a popular lunch item. Crepe prices run from $5.25 to $7.95.
