Machelle Dennis said she brought a huge, loyal following from Hurst when she relocated Machelle's Boutique in April to a space near Market Street in Colleyville.

"And really, we've had a lot of great new people every week," she said.

The store is filled with distinctive clothing and accessories, including the popular Brighton line.

She said younger customers like the Corral Boots, handcrafted in Mexico.

Others want pieces by Joseph Ribkoff, a Canadian designer.

Those names attract customers from all across the Dallas-Fort Worth area—Dennis said shoppers come regularly from Fort Worth, Keller, Mansfield and Irving.

"Specialty boutiques are not that common anymore," said Dennis, who lives in Colleyville.

Having her own shop allows her to offer amenities usually not found at the big chains, such as layaway.

Dennis said she's happy with the new location.

"I'm excited to be here," she said. "Business is up. It will get better every year."
