Colleyville residents have posted signs along Glade Road protesting the city's plans to widen the east-west thoroughfare, in anticipating of Monday's public meeting on the issue.
Residents who attended a previous public meeting and commented on a web site set up for the project are concerned about losing big trees that line the roadside as well as chunks of property. Other homes with smaller yards also are fairly close to the existing road.
Some of the large, gated homes along Glade Road have expanses of grass outside the fences that likely would be affected by widening.
Besides congeston at some intersections, a study of the road by TranSystems showed significant crash potential.
The last of the two public meetings starts at 5:30 p.m. at Colleyville Center, 5301 Riverwalk Drive. A formal presentation showing design alternatives begins at 6 p.m., followed by questions.
