The town will issue $9.5 million in bonds to expand Westlake Academy and build a water storage tank.
The academy, a charter school run by the town, has 662 students enrolled and more than 2,000 on a waiting list. Roughly $8.5 million of the bond issue will be used for the expansion.
Westlake children are automatically admitted to the academy; prospective students from other cities enter a yearly public lottery.
The expansion, to begin this year, will include a cafetorium and more classrooms. The bond issue was approved at the Town Council's Feb. 25 meeting.
