In a reversal of a previous decision, Southlake voters probably will not be asked to approve a property tax increase for a multipurpose center.

The City Council saw recommendations Feb. 6 for using sales tax revenue to purchase bonds to build the center and agreed members do not want to seek a property tax increase. There was no official vote because they were at their winter workshop at Timarron Country Club.

The estimated cost of the center is $32 million without an aquatics center or $40 million with one. The proposed 86,500-square-foot building would include a new senior center.
