Top issues for 2012
- 2030 Plan — The city continued to follow the comprehensive plan.
- New hospital — Construction began on Forest Park Medical Center.
- Water conservation — The city adopted a Water Use Master Plan in June.
- The DFW Connector — The road construction continued.
- West Nile virus outbreak and response — The first human case of West Nile virus in Southlake was confirmed in July.
Top issues for 2013
- Sidewalk construction — More than 33,032 linear feet are planned, with $1,024,775 in grants and city money.
- FM 1938 — Construction of the north-south road between Hwy. 260 and U.S. 377 includes a water line, a water main, trails, sidewalks, drainage and median landscaping.
- Departments of Public Safety North — The facility at East Dove Road and North White Chapel is scheduled to open in December.
- Completion of T.W. King 30-inch water line — The line will improve water distribution.
Terms and compensation
The Southlake City Council's seven members and mayor are all elected at large for three-year terms. No member may serve more than two successive elected terms.
