The City of Grapevine has joined Southlake and Tarrant County to handle the reconstruction of Lonesome Dove Road between East Dove Road and Burney Lane. The $96,000 project kicked off in mid-July and is expected to be complete by September.

"The road had developed cracks in the surface that allow moisture to enter the foundation of the roadway, leading to a growing number of potholes," Southlake Public Works Director Bob Price said.

Tarrant County is providing personnel and equipment that will stabilize the portions of foundation that require repair, and the City of Southlake is providing a majority of the funding at about $72,000. Grapevine's portion of the road falls between Foxfire and Gravel Circle North, and it is paying about $24,000 to cover the cost of repaving that portion.

Following the completion of the reconstruction of the foundation by county workers, Southlake Public Works staff will repave the entire width of the road from just north of East Dove Road to Burney Lane.

Although Lonesome Dove Road will be accessible to residents, city officials are suggesting that other drivers use alternate routes to avoid congestion and delays until work is complete.
