The council meets at 7:30 p.m. the first and third Tuesday of the month.

Terms and compensation
The mayor and council serve three-year terms with no term limits and with monthly stipends (mayor $410.61 monthly, and council $212.75 monthly).

Top issues in 2011
- Economic development — Helping existing businesses grow and attracting new businesses, such as eatZi's and Sea Life Grapevine Aquarium.
- DFW Connector project — Construction for the estimated $1.1 billion DFW Connector project is roughly 60 percent complete. The project is aimed at decreasing road congestion and improving access to the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
- Public safety — Residents last May voted to renew the city's Crime Control & Prevention District for an additional 15 years. The half-cent dedication from the city's sales tax helps pay for public safety initiatives.
- Budgeting process — Despite economic conditions, the city maintains appropriate fund balances and city services.
Top issues for 2012
- Public safety — Continue with plans to build a new public safety building, including the police department, jail, courts, dispatch and fire department administrative offices.
- Infrastructure projects — Continued progress on the construction of the DFW Connector project. Working to gain approval from the Federal Transit Administration for the TEX Rail project.
- Grapevine Mills — In early spring, the city plans to make a big announcement about improvement plans at Grapevine Mills mall.
- Baylor Grapevine expansion project — Baylor Regional Medical Center campus at Grapevine in June 2011 announced the construction of a new patient tower expected to open in summer 2013.
- Economic development — The city plans to continue its focus on economic development in the areas of hospitality, entertainment and retail.
