A request to modify some design standards and locations of open space within Legacy West will soon head to a Plano commission.

The Plano Planning and Zoning Commission called for a public hearing to modify development standards and allow open space modifications in a mixed-use development, Legacy West, during the Aug. 5 meeting.

The overview

Development Review Manager Mike Bell said a public hearing was necessary to modify the open space because it is tied to the zoning district for Legacy West. The crux of the proposal is different locations for some of the open space, he added.

According to city documents, requesting a public hearing on the rezoning is an alternative to multiple owners of the land having to request zoning changes.

Looking ahead

Because the public hearing was called, the planning and zoning commission will consider the case at a future meeting. The earliest a case could be considered is at the commission's next meeting Aug. 19.

Based on the commission’s recommendation, the zoning case could then go before Plano City Council.
