McKinney ISD, along with a number of neighboring school districts, closed schools Jan. 9 and Jan. 10.
The city of McKinney has closed various facilities on Jan. 9 in response to the weather, including both city libraries, the McKinney Performing Arts Center, parks and recreation facilities including recreation centers, the Visit McKinney store and more. Additional closures are expected Jan. 10. For an up-to-date list of closures, visit www.mckinneytexas.org/39/weather.
Trash and recycling collection service has also been paused. Frontier Waste Solutions, the city’s contractor for trash and recycling collection, attempted to continue service on Jan. 9 but stopped due to the weather conditions.
Service will resume when it is deemed to be safe, the website states. Residents are advised to leave trash and recycling carts until they are collected. Collections of yard waste and bulky items are cancelled for the remainder of the week and will be resumed on the resident’s next collection day.
