The McKinney Parks and Recreation Department announced through a Sept. 7 Facebook post that a new dock will be installed by the end of September. The previous dock, located on the east side of the upper central peninsula in the lake, was in need of replacement, according to Tony Adamo, a communications specialist for the McKinney Parks and Recreation Department.
The new dock is from EZ Dock of Texas, a modular floating dock company based in Hurst, Texas. The dock will be Americans with Disabilities Act-accessible and will be available to the public for use with their own equipment, such as kayaks, paddle boards and more. The new dock will also feature a kayak launch, according to the department’s Facebook announcement.
“The city of McKinney places a high value on offering a number of opportunities to explore and enjoy the outdoors. This is just one more way we can give our residents to have fun out on the water,” said Michael Kowski, the director of parks and recreation for the city of McKinney, in an email.
The city has plans to offer classes and other event programming utilizing the new dock and surrounding space in the future, Adamo said. Updates regarding the dock and when it will be open to the public will continue to be posted on the McKinney Parks and Recreation Department’s official Facebook, the initial Facebook announcement said.
